BKS Iyengar

I have practiced Iyengar yoga for 41 years, although my practice was sporadic in the early days. My husband Lindsey and I made our first journey to Pune in 1976 to study with B.K.S. Iyengar 39 years ago. I have made that journey, mostly with Lindsey around 23 times.

September 6th will be the 30th anniversary of my dad’s passing. Taken by a sudden heart attack while talking on the phone, his death was a huge shock. He was young—63—and very athletic, vital and energetic. Here one moment, gone the next.

As an update to last week’s report, we’re sad to hear BKS Iyengar is still in the hospital and is considered to be in critical condition.
