Yoga Crime Update: Graspin’ Aspen Sentenced to Jail Time and Fines

From the YD Crime Blotter

Yikes, and now your requisite update on the Graspin’ Aspen case:

Colorado yoga teacher, Steven Jon Roger, was sentenced to 2 months of jail time, a $5,000 fine (the max) and 120 hours of community service. He must also write apology letters to the two students involved. Roger maintains his innocence and will appeal.

Rewind: Steven Jon Roger is an Aspen, Colorado yoga teacher who was accused by several students of sexually groping them in class; events which occurred over a period of time during 2008. Earlier this fall he was found guilty on two counts of unlawful sexual contact, and was required to register as a sex offender. After his jail time, he will be on probation for four years.

A real bummer of a story no matter how you look at it! Yoga teachers and students, beware. This yoga thing can put you in a vulnerable state for sure, but let the intimacy occur in relationship to the self. Respect!
