We sometimes believe presenting without comment is a bit irresponsible since there’s so much fabricated bs out there (“fake news!”…ugh) and it’s hard to know if anyone knows their asana from their elbow. In sharing this, well, we could add our own witty footnotes but really it just speaks for itself.
All we’ll say is this is where we’re at, people, not just in yoga, but in our culture and our country. Satire? Or real life?*
(OK we will also note that it’s highly unlikely Santa Monica would be the first place to introduce Gun Yoga.)
Second Amendment, y’all.
*It’s satire. But it’s hard to tell these days, isn’t it?

I am really hoping that this is satire. If it isn’t, how does ahimsa fit in?

I have been practicing yoga for 25 years, teaching for 18, a vegetarian for 18, an avowed pacifist and gentle soul. As a responsible soul and an American citizen, I also enjoy shooting the bejesus out of cans, 2 liter bottles, paper targets, discarded small appliances etc. I would never consider using a firearm against a person or animal unless my life was in clear and immediate danger and there was no other option. I also practice leave no trace shooting. I live just outside Asheville North Carolina and I’m fortunate to live in a rural mountain community where recreational shooting is normal. Whether I am shooting on my own or public land, I make sure to leave the area cleaner than I found it. Check out the Asheville Yoga and Gun Club on Facebook for another perspective. Regarding Ahimsa, We have the capacity to harm or to help, to destroy or to create. A firearm is simply a tool. It is an inanimate object. It has no say in whether you are target shooting cans in your spare time or have evil intent. Unfortunately we have seen that Humans who are intent on hurting one another will find away… They will just drive their truck down a busy sidewalk… The mission of the Asheville Yoga and Gun Club is to attract a diverse population to an awareness practice. If you are a yoga practitioner, you will be astounded at how the proper handling of a rifle… Shouldering it,… Taking aim,… Breathing,… Is almost exactly like arm balancing…! It reminds me of doing handstands unsupported in the middle of room… ♂️
Thank you, Jason, for your thoughtful response. When I respond to some of the posts I see on Yoga Dork, it is to further my own understanding of a different way of looking at the world. Your response provided me with this. I think it is thru this type of dialogue that we can appreciate each other, over differences and our similarities. Namaste.
Shiva Shakti I suppose…
I wish I thought this was funny. It shows how today’s world is destroying my sense of humor.
Satire, or the real thing? 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJyXoyVkCsA Actual gun yoga, with live fire…

Yoga is very necessary for body. A perfect outfit is very necessary for doing this exercise. I think there are perfect outfits by which you can feel perfect during yoga.
I have tried https://yoga-eco-clothing.com/ to buy some Organic Yoga clothing and their products have turned out to be awesome. The fabric of their clothes is also very fine and Yoga feels so nice after wearing them. I highly recommend to use their products
