JetBlue Brings Yoga Classes To JFK’s T5 This Week

in Public Display of Yoga, YD News

If you’re flying out of JFK Airport this week and happen to be on JetBlue, you’re in for a yoga treat. Over the next couple of days, the blue ones are offering some free yoga classes to ticketed guests at their very hip Terminal T5 (so hip they have a farm there and a rooftop terrace…and blue potato chips).

The hour-long yoga classes will only be offered to customers who’ve gone through security and have an hour or so to spare waiting for their flight. A healthy alternative to the normal sequence of poses on the nearby bar stool, no? Oh wait. The classes are co-sponsored by Bar Veloce and participants are welcome to a glass of wine afterward, the press release says. Kill two bird poses with one vino?

Airport yoga is becoming really popular all over the world, with many carving out special yoga and meditation rooms like San Francisco’s SFO, Chicago’s O’Hare, and London’s Gatwick. Even Dallas/Fort Worth has a yoga room. So, JetBlue, while we appreciate your sprinkling of yoga classes, we think you could do a bit better. Remember when you almost were a part of the second attempt at the world’s largest yoga class? We bet you still have some leftover branded blue mats! We still have ours.

Perhaps this is just a trial run and we’ll see more offerings soon.

Here’s the yoga schedule…see if it fits in with the one involving your defying gravity in a large flying machine:

Thursday, January 21, 2016:
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Leo Rising)
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Melissa Donegan)
5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Melissa Donegan)

Friday, January 22, 2016:
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Leo Rising)
5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Leo Rising)

The classes are being held in T5′s Marketplace (pictured above) where they hold other hip events like concerts.
