Stand back, SUP Yoga, there’s a new super cool yoga trend in town. In fact, it’s so cool it’s freezing. It’s snow pile yoga! That’s yoga on top of the ginormous piles of snow/dirt/garbage, you know the ones the snow plows create on the side of roads and parking lots. Why not make the best of the crazy winter weather. If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, right?
The Washington Post reports on the trend that’s sweeping, er, plowing the east coast:
Just imagine, watching the last vestiges of our past winter storms melt away under the yoga mat while you get an awesome, full-body workout.
“It’s like doing yoga on the beach but instead of warm, dry sand under your feet you have cold, sloppy ice granules,” says snow pile yoga teacher Colure Caulfield.
Sounds divine!
But be forewarned: special equipment is required for such a blissful pile practice. Don’t forget to bolt down your mat, WP warns.
And don’t forget that this is a completely false trend made up by the funny mind of Washington Post writer Kevin Ambrose. The sense of humor in us recognizes and honors the sense of humor in you, sir.
Sure, we might need to seek professional help, but at least we’ll be in great shape and quite limber when we answer the doctor’s questions about our ridiculously insane interest in snow. We might even take half pigeon or crow on the doc’s sofa when he shows us shapes while responding they resemble a GFS weather map with a snowstorm poised to track up the East Coast.
Again, do not try this at home, but feel free to chuckle at the absurdity of it all. (Side note: While Snow Pile Yoga may be made up, Snowga IS a real thing.)
