B.K.S. may have left his earthly body this past August, but we know his teachings will undoubtedly live on for many years to come through his words, methods, and students. As an author who’s published several important yoga books, including The Tree of Yoga and Light on Yoga, which many refer to as the Bible of yoga asana, Iyengar was able to share his teachings with the world. But in this book, Sparks of Divinity: The Teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar from 1959 to 1975, we are given a rare and intimate glimpse into what it was like to be present as one of his students through her perspective, and through a time when Iyengar was truly coming into his own.
As a collection of teachings, class notes and correspondence compiled by Iyengar’s student Noëlle Perez-Christiaens, Sparks of Divinity, offers an inspiring combination of wisdom from B.K.S. Iyengar and insight from his pupil. We’re delighted to present this giveaway in honor of B.K.S. Iyengar’s invaluable contribution to modern yoga and to celebrate his birthday, December 14th (he would have been 96 this year.) Happy Birthday, Guruji!
WIN: THREE lucky winners will receive a copy of Sparks of Divinity: The Teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar from 1959 to 1975, a collection of the teachings of yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar first published in a French-English bilingual edition in 1976, courtesy of Rodmell Press.
TO ENTER: Let’s have a little fun. Tell us in three words how you would describe your yoga practice lately using the letters B K S. For instance, here’s ours: Balanced, Kinda, Sometimes! You don’t have to be as poetic <heh>. Alternatively, you could also use the letters I Y E N G A R. Leave your entry in the comments below, on facebook, or on twitter (for social media, be sure to tag @yogadork and @RodmellPress)
TIP: Check out Rodmell Press on facebook for regular giveaways of their great books.
Giveaway will remain open until 11:59pm Monday, December 15. Three winners will be chosen at random and announced soon after. Good luck!
Update: and the winners are….Erin K., Virginia and TwistedSuzy! Congrats! Thank you all for playing along and sharing your fun comments. May you all find your sparks of divinity.
