Website Shutdown – YogaDork Goes Strictly Selfie On Instagram

in YD News

Hi there! We hope this finds you well and enjoying Spring, even if it’s just a glimpse or a glimmer. Today, TODAY, we bring you BIG news. This is the type of news that is game-changing, life-altering, shape-shifting, and we don’t take delivering this lightly. However, we’ve waited long enough and just can’t hold it in any longer…it’s with bittersweetness in our hearts and smartphones in hand we tell you that after today YD is GOING GRAM.*

Announcing the new and improved YogaDork — no longer a blog with words strung together in long and tedious sequences, but a brand new, fresh, selfie-tastic @therealyogadork Instagram account. #instaguru #instakarma #savasanagram

We know what’s up. Writing in full sentences has gone the way of dodobirdasana and we’re not going to be left behind in the interweb dust. We will now be communicating SOLELY by selfies, abbreviations and acronyms in 140 characters or less.

The truth is we realized the future of yoga lies not in the laborious written commentary on yoga culture and news, but in a daily and incessant stream of snapshots of our indisputably tantalizing yogadork practice, wherever (beautiful vistas, most likely), with whomever (celebriyogis, no doubt) and whenever (yoga never ends, so you know, there’s infinite potential).

We just want to inspire everyone to love yoga as much as we do, so the only logical next step is to follow the lead of every up-and-coming yoga star and demonstrate how amazing yoga is by doing it ourselves and capturing every magical moment of it.

Because looking at our pictures of yoga (and liking them!) IS yoga.

We apologize to anyone saddened by this sudden shift. We considered going facebook-only but they’re starting to squeeze us out unless we pay for advertising, so you probably wouldn’t even get to see all of the awesome and inspiring photos we posted.

Besides, Yoga is union, which we suppose also roughly translates to “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.”

To kick everything off we’re launching our first #savasanagram selfie campaign where every day we’ll post a pic of ourselves in savasana at the end of our usual 2-hour practice of advanced poses and near-impossible niralamba balances you’ll just have to take our word for.

We hope you’ll decide to join us as we transition into our new yoga selfie lifestyle! We invite you to share your own pics, tag us and tag them #savasanagram. And spread the word! We need at least 45,000 followers by Friday to prove our self-worth.

Here’s our first #instaguru #savasanagram ever! You can see we’re still just getting the hang of it.

Idea for the next campaign: post-yoga smoothies!

*Happy April 1st! If you didn’t believe any of this, you are too smart. If you did, fooled you! None of this is true, EXCEPT that we did start an Instagram account @therealyogadork and we may or may not post savasana selfies from time to time (or just photos of our cats). Thanks for playing along 😉

    You got me! (Nuts!)

  • LOVE this YD!

  • Very convincing. At first I thought it was joke, then by the time I got to the middle it made perfect sense, to the point where I was surprised it WAS a joke at the end!

  • Can’t even tell you how much I love this little poke at the obsessive selfie yoga craze on Instagram. I for one would love to see lots more #savasanagram selfie posts on Instagram. Happy April Fools day!!

  • Hi. I wrote a comment a few months ago, annoyed about instagram. I guess I didn’t really understand the goal.. BUT.. My feelings about instagram and yoga have changed. I have met so many people who started practicing because of instagram challenges.. And I have met some really amazing yogis who share their photos on instagram. Social Media. Life is changing. Yes, i still think it is intimidating to see perfect bodies doing very difficult poses.. but if we see at as sharing yoga as a source of wellness, body, mind, spirit.. then it truly becomes a tool for healing. Namaste. Learning everyday.

  • Thanks for some other informative web site. The place else may just I am getting that type of information written in such a perfect method?
I have a undertaking that I’m just now running on, and I’ve been on the look out for such info.
