We’ve been silently, and not so silently, delighting in glee over our new twitter follower, Ashley Judd(!). Sure, she’s a beautiful and successful movie star, which is cool, but she’s also an inspiring activist and humanitarian who’s done great work all over the world to prevent AIDS, promote the end of genocide and crimes against humanity in the Congo and take a stand against the media’s unwarranted attacks on women, their bodies and their appearances.
We already knew we loved her.
And then…
We saw her yogariffic twitter profile.
Ashley Judd has been a fan and practitioner of yoga for many years, citing back in 2005 how it helped her stay balanced and keep depression at bay (Judd was diagnosed as bipolar in the 90s).
Via Contact Music:
“My mat is a safe place. I’ll go into Child’s pose or I’ll simply sit on it and cry. It’s my rock.
“I haven’t been depressed in a while, but it’s something I know how to look for in my life. Yoga has made a big difference there… because when I feel that slippery slope, instead of just monitoring it and being fearful, now I give thanks for my struggles.
“I try to remember that true happiness is not dependent on circumstances and conditions.”
And she’s still all about yoga today (obviously), tweeting about her practice and pics of herself dancer posing in the trees.

And this is why, when we got the little notification, we couldn’t help get a little giddy. Ashley Judd is a total yogadork and we can’t help but love her.
Update: Ashley responds.

What would this world be like without our stars?
That we are underlings.
Even if they are ashtanga dorks.
