In a time when high school kids protest against a yoga pants ban because they love how comfortable their stretchy pants are and women practically LIVE in their yoga pants, jeans are pretty much the dang denim under dog. Or should we say under downdog?
This is Levi’s latest lady jeans campaign and if we didn’t know any better we’d think they were trying to hint at how stretchy and comfortable their pants are…why SO stretchy and comfy you could even do yoga in them (probably)!
The pants are advertised as being able to “shape, lift and define.” Yep, those sound like fighting words to us!
But, hey, we’ve all seen the mystic (evil? magical?) power of jeggings, so maybe there really is a market for this type of pant. Or maybe we just like finding an excuse to use the word “pant” in its singular form. Either way, yoga is hip and at the end of the day, jeans are still popular, though this whole office-to-street-to-yoga-class-to-street-to-dinner-to-cocktails-to-bed-to-brunch-to-grocery-shopping/erranding market is putting a real damper on that denim.
We appreciate the curve-loving, Levi’s, but we’re not converted. We’ll still be doing our inversions jeans-free, thanks.
