A wise person once said, “Perception is reality.” The thought here being that what we personally perceive to be true is therefore our truth. But sometimes our perception is a little thrown off, say for example, in the case of the Monkey Orchid. Is it a monkey? Is it an orchid? How did an adorable tiny primate get trapped in the petals of a pretty flower?! Of course, logic tells us it didn’t. And in “reality” it’s just an amazing phenomenon of mother nature.
Perception is powerful though, and sometimes it can even get in our own way when we believe the stories we tell ourselves, like “I’m not good enough,” “I’ll never get this done” or “Having a huge bean burrito right before yoga class is tooootally a fine idea.”
Then again, we can use perception for the good, just by flipping the script, and using our bodies to help our minds overcome fear, doubt and negativity. How can we do that? Read on dear, yogadorks!
And when you’re done, do yourself a favor and Google ‘Monkey Orchid.’ You won’t regret it.
