Rumer’s on the left, Demi’s on the right, rumors all around.
OK that’s it. We’ve been reading a lot about actress Demi Moore and her yogi escapades for months. And now there’s news she’s run off with her daughter to New Mexico for some weird tantric yoga fest? The rumors are true! (that’s funny, you know, cause her daughter’s name is Rumer? ahem.)
According to gossip gospel, TMZ, lady Moore has been diving crown chakra first into Kundalini yoga since her split with Ashtun Kutcher, and last month she Adi Mantra’d herself all the way to the Jemez Mountains for a “White Tantric Meditation” Summer Solstice event.
Our yoga sources — yes, we have yoga sources — tell us the practice helps people “break through the subconscious blocks that enslave the mind” … while wearing cool white clothes.
We’re told one of the highlights of the event was the “Blind Walk Meditation” — when Demi joined hands with 10 other people (all with their eyes closed) and walked around chanting, “Waheguru.”
Now, sister ageless beauty (she’s currently 50, going on 29) has done more than her share of odd things to stay young (leech therapy, anyone?) but this is just the craziest thing since cozying up with fellow Kundalini-lover and YD mascot Russell Brand. Wearing white, holding hands and chanting? Goodness, get this woman back to La-La Land stat!
Of course, we are completely kidding and do not mean any of this. Sure, Kundalini can seem kinda looney, but we’re not sure why a mom and her daughter can’t retreat to an undisclosed place in the desert for a few days of transformative soul-staring and intense kriya quality time.
White Tantric Meditation is no joke. According to the WTM website:
White Tantric Yoga® is done in pairs as a group meditation. You sit facing a partner and follow instructions for meditation given on video by the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan.
Each workshop consists of between six and eight kriyas. A kriya is a meditation incorporating:
- a yoga posture (asana)
- a hand position (mudra)
- a breathing technique (pranayama)
- a mental focus
- and/or a mantra
And this lasts all day so pack a snack, and a cushion. Via ShaktaKaur.com:
The most difficult thing for a first-timer is sitting for seven to nine hours in a crossed-legged position for the 31-to 62-minute kriyas. Even though 20-to 30-minute breaks are taken between each kriya, many participants have not had an all-day meditation experience.
It’s no Britney Spears Warrior Two-ing in Shape magazine but mama Moore is taking this yoga thing seriously. Maybe soon those whispers about her eschewing acting to become a yoga guru with Rumer will be more than just hearsay.
