This is beautiful and it’s not because it has anything to do with a supermodel.
“Practicing yoga with my little partner before going to work. Enjoy your day!” Gisele Bundchen captioned this photo posted to her Instagram June 19th, to the response of approximately 32,700 likes, aka peopled who hearted the pic, and might even be inspired to squeeze in a little mommy-baby yoga time here or there.
Sure, it’s easy to hate on Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, her body dimensions that of a slinky exotic and her life seemingly from a book of Portuguese fairytales, but if this image were all we knew of the long-limbed Victoria’s Secret angel, practicing yoga in the morning hours with her sweet 6-month-old daughter Vivian, we’d all chant a resounding “awwwwwwooommmmm.”
In between model-y obligations, Bündchen is a serial Instagrammer of yoga and channeler of her inner John Lennon. Previous posts have included support for World Environment Day, a wish for world peace and a shot of her morning yoga practice from the scene of some bucolic tropical paradise (she has a home in Costa Rice, so…).
“A beautiful way to start the morning practicing with my friend Cristina Kalyani Paes. Wishing you a joyful day!” she says.
Ah, just another day in the life. Still, we’re not haters. Can we really hold anything against someone who, at 32-years-old, uses her status as one of the most powerful women in fashion to support global charities (in 2010 she wrote $1.5 million check to the Red Cross for Haiti recovery), to become a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) going on visits to Kenya to help built huts and plant trees in Rio de Janeiro, to start her own grant-making organization advocating the empowerment of young girls to which she donates a percentage of her earnings and have two babies (4 years and 6 months) with whom she takes the time to practice yoga? Eh, nah.
Here she is taking time out of her pretty, busy schedule to talk about yoga (in Portuguese) and demonstrate correct asana technique and alignment, handstand skills and nadi shodhana to a TV show host in 2007.
