A few weeks ago we half-jokingly mused, “Remember when everyone made fun of Moby because he was into yoga and it wasn’t cool then?” My how times have changed. Hell, Russell Crowe is coming out of the prop closet now. We’re delighted to discover via this documentary series by his wellness Deepak Chopra that Moby was not deterred by any wussy rants or beefs with Eminem (who, ironically, also found yoga).
As part of a video series called Urban Yogis, the headline “Ashtanga yoga instructor, Eddie Stern, leads a private yoga lesson from singer Moby’s guest house” kinda caught our eye. Moby’s still a yogi! And, what’s that? NY’s most prominent Ashtanga teacher is apparently chilling at his guest house teaching yoga. Oooh, swanky. And perhaps a little unnecessary, until you realize it was Deepak’s doing.
Anyway, if you were wondering what it would be like to see Eddie Stern teach Sun Salutations in front of a fire place (in LA?) at Moby’s guest house then here you go!
Poking around a little more we came across other interesting videos as the main portion of the series “Yoga Transforming Lives.” In it you’ll see:
“…cancer survivors, inner-city youth dealing with violence in their communities, recovering addicts, artists, youth in detention facilities, and more. Comedian Russell Brand, Grammy-nominated musician Moby, “yogi” businessman Russell Simmons, and author/doctor Deepak Chopra also share their stories and insights. Renowned yoga teacher Eddie Stern serves as our host and guide to the stories of these urban yogis.”
In which we are treated to inspiring stories from many walks of life and kundalooney Brit Russell Brand admitting he spends “more time meditating and practicing yoga than fucking.” You’re welcome.

Seems like Yoga is the fastest growing religion these days.
Good days, if I may add…
Ah, that DC 🙂
YD, you should know that the natives in India can never quite say ‘Deepak Chopra”, without breaking into uncontrollable laughter. “Deepak Chopra” is what one India-native might say to his depressed-buddy, in order to get his buddy to snap out of it. We should try this trick Stateside too.
Deepak Chopra. He unwittingly generates much humor by trying to put a New-Age-Spin on a 5000-year-old religion. Bless his funny soul !
