According to YouTube he goes by Swami Yogananda and he’s 101 years old. We don’t have exact confirmation, but needless to say, he’s pretty old. And he’s pretty flexible and strong. Side note: can we make the prediction now? off-white plush carpet the next yoga mat craze.
This sort of stuff is always inspiring no matter how old you are or at whatever level of yogidom you currently reside. And it reminded us of this photo of Swami Balendu and an aspiring yogster that’s been floating around the twitbookfacewebs. Sorry, it’s a little hard to read, but you get it the idea.
It also reminds us to pick the dry cleaning…er, practice.

That is amazing. He can do things I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do and he’s about 4X my age. Also I love that poster!
I love how he kisses his knees when he goes into lotus. So inspiring <3
OMG – I just realized I saw him 4 years ago for the first time in Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Mysore, India. He was doing the opening “warm up” for a Sri Sri Ravi Shankar appearance. He was in his late 90’s then and quite amusing whipping out the asanas left and right on stage in front of about 2,000 people (or more). After he finished each asana there was always thunderous applause (we were supposed to be following along with him…..people were too busy watching him on the big screens they had set up). What an inspiration to see him still cranking it out at 101!
He’s around 103 years old (maybe 104) now!
inspiration.
