Coldplay lover and Cee-lo consort Gwyneth Paltrow was honored Wednesday night at the 3rd Annual Bent on Learning Benefit held at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Center in NYC. There she is looking awfully glowy and pretty posing with Ms. DK herself. Bent on Learning is an awesome organization bringing yoga and meditation to under served populations and inner city schools all over NY. We so appreciate their work and love that they are being supported by big named celebs to raise money for the cause. Paltrow was honored along with fellow celebriyogadork Russell Simmons for their contributions to the yoga community. Cheers!
Although, let’s get real. As far as we’re concerned, you’re not doing all you can for yoga if you’re not gabbing it up all over twitter (UncleRUSH, you’re all good), teaching Conan how to bakasana or posting pics of yourself in Bikram bootie undies. Get on it Gwynnie!

Earlier…
their contributions to the yoga community <- i read about this elsewhere and thought to myself: seriously? b/c she does it? kind of preposterous if you ask me even if she looks pretty getting her award.
If the goal of the organization that’s honoring her is bringing yoga & meditation to the schools… I say Yay, Gwyneth!!! : )
I don’t know much about what she’s done for the yoga community but she has definitely brought more awareness of yoga to popular culture which makes it easier for teachers to find people who want to do yoga (for whatever reason), in which, helping yoga to continue its movement. Kudos to her.

Gwyneth has not contributed anything to yoga, she benefited from it herself just like the rest of us. As for bringing more awareness to the practice? Not really it’s all about her website now and recipes how to cook to perfect roast chicken… ( wasn’t she giving everyone tips on vegan ism a few years back?) Angelina Jollie, now, here is a woman who tackles hard issues like rape in Congo ( and is not afraid to travel without her make up artist to bring attention to those very real issues)

Gwyneth is good a cherry picking off the hard work of others. She should get some kind of award for that.
