Celebs Sing for Yoga Revolution, CD Series Feat. Sting, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan & More

in Celebriyogis, World News, YD News

Look everyone, celebs! Recording music for yoga! A new cd series volume 1 is about to drop, and profits will go towards supporting yoga and fitness programs for underserved youth. It’s The Yoga Revolution! And who are these charitable (superstar) citizens contributing their gift of music? Why none other than the peace-loving likes of Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Sting, Ziggy Marley, Peter Gabriel, Seal, Michael Franti, Krishna Das, Anjelique Kidjo, Guru Singh, Donna De Lory, and Anoushka Shankar. And that’s only the first cd.

Yoga Revolution is a collab between Yoga Health Foundation founder Johannes R. Fisslinger and Frank Fitzpatrick, founder/director of charitable music organization EarthTones. The CD will come out on Nutone/Nettwerk (label home of Krishna Das/ Sarah McLachlan mgmt), and will presumably be a major accoutrement to National Yoga Month in September, run by Yoga Health Foundation, along with the Titans of Yoga DVD. Boy, they sure are ramping up the yogapop this year.

You can listen to two tracks from the cd on their site here (or pre-order for 25 smackers):
“Sea Dreamer” – Performed by Anoushka Shankar, featuring Sting
“I Am” – Performed by Guru Singh, featuring Seal

And you can download a free Krishna Das song by surrendering your email here.

BONUS:  holy crow! Rajan Zed, American Hindu statesman and resident poo-pooing watchdog (see Zed’s Yoga Journal fuss and Eat, Pray, Love tussle) actually approves?
