Ah the sticky sweet sweatiness of summer’s imminent arrival. We can already see ourselves lounging under the hazy sunshine, sand between our toes, a frosty beverage within reach, Matt Damon trading off between strumming softly on a guitar and hand feeding us bites of watermelon…hey, we can dream what we want! Really though, with Memorial Day at the tail end of this week we’re pretty much in the homestretch for sum-sum-summertime. Which, of course, is the perfect reason for a giveaway!
And with pitta season ready to raise the heat, why not take the opportunity to keep it cool and slow it on down? Presenting the first of this week’s It’s (almost) Summer, Relax! giveaways:

The sound of an espresso machine machine brewing a perfect latte. With beach sounds in the background. And reggae music. I have trouble relaxing. Can you tell? LOL!
Thunder and rain, the sound of a crackling fire in a wood burning stove, and silence, pure silence.
Ocean sounds, and rainstorms. 🙂
The sounds of silence.
No, not the song.
The sounds of silence.

Lotus pose in silence in a candle lit room. Helps me cool down and relax on those hectic hot summer nights!
Birdsong outside my window
Walking along the ocean edge with sand scrunching between my toes; snorkeling mask and fins in hand
I like the sound of crickets. Their distant chirps letting me know they are there hiding in the grass, like little lawn ninjas.
My friends always laugh when I tell them I’m a Yanni fan, but my favorite relaxation song is Enchantment. Lots of piano and flowing movement.
the sound of my cat purring.
silence
silence
My kitty purrs, summer quiet, and raind… not necessarily at the same time. I actually listen to CD’s in times of need though too!
The soft rustling of leaves from a summer breeze
As I listen for the faint heartbeat of of my unborn son
My ear resting gently on the smooth skin of my wife’s belly
The sound of the breeze in the leaves, the birds singing and the joyful noise of children playing. While chillin’ in my sunroom with all the windows open.
Early evening sitting on my backyard swing and hearing nothing but the birds and the sound of my fountain.
The pitter-patter of raindrops outside my window….
Crashing waves, but that’s rarely available to me. The close second is the snoring wuffling sleeping dog sounds produced by my pitt bull mix, Charlee.
Silence. No talking. No words. Maybe the sounds of the ocean in the background or even a good piece of classical music like Clair de Lune. But definitely leave out any people speak.
1. Slow, simple, sensual Eastern instrumental music. Think mosaic of Middle Eastern, Indian and Far Eastern music. Perfect for yoga, soothing meditation and relaxation.
2. If possible, listening to waves crashing…live.
the sound of rain beating on the roof.
I usually use white noise… it’s more relaxing than it sounds 🙂
Any water sounds – waves, rain, a waterfall.
