Gah! Did we really leave Martha Stewart off The List? For shame. How were we to know the magnate of better living would be yoga-ing it up with Sting‘s yoga-partner-in-life Trudie Styler? We weren’t invited! Last time we saw Madame Martha in her stretchy pants she was demonstrating some awkward maneuvers with a dog. Doga of course! Get your mind out of the gutter. Now she’s dedicated an entire show to the practice! It’s true. Tomorrow, Friday, January 18th the Martha Stewart Show will become “The Yoga Show,” with help from sleek yogapreneur Trudie Styler and an audience full of 51 yogis! Apparently all of whom practiced for the entire hour-long taping of the episode. You can imagine how jealous we are.
Episode description:
Discover the many benefits of yoga in a special show dedicated to this holistic practice: Find the style of yoga perfect for you with an overview of ashtanga, iyengar, and vinyasa; try a dynamic, empowering “warrior” workout with yoga expert Trudie Styler; and craft a one-of-a-kind yoga accessory with Martha.
ps. surely the audience all got to take home a free copy of Trudie’s new yoga DVD.
Watch a preview of the show, and gear up the DVR/TiVO/recording machines! Martha Stewart Show is on 11am on NBC for NYers. Check local listings for time, network, etc.
If you didn’t know, Martha is quite the yogadork. From her website: Ashtanga with Sarah (of Karma Yoga NYC); Yoga 101 with Roseanna (Martha’s Iyengar teacher).
As if the practice weren’t elitist enough. Why not Roseanne doing yoga instead?
Roseanne as in Conner, not Martha’s teacher …
Sorry, but this looks like it could be an example of, excuse the term, “poser-yoga” to me. The foundation of yoga postures begin with the feet: the toes spread wide & gripping, arches up with the 4 corners of the foot pad grounded. Martha’s feet in the triangle pose (top photo) demonstrate poor technique.
I’m going to TiVO it. If Martha has an Iyengar teacher, she must know a thing or two about proper alignment, even if she didn’t get it quite right in her picture. Plus, knowing and doing are 2 separate things.
