Happy Monday! Can you believe it’s November already? Feels like only yesterday we were sweatin our pants off about who wears what to yoga class. Oh wait, it kinda was yesterday! Anyway, we hope you enjoyed that extra hour of sleep on Saturday night because we bet you already forgot about it – ancient history! – especially after coping with your sweet tooth hangover (or, you know, whatever kind of hangover) on Sunday.
It’s Kermit THE Frog, a total yogadork!
This may even beat out Bush Yoga and the Yoga Action Figures.
See the rest of Kermie’s sun salutations here. No bekasana though. Big thanks to @curvyyogini for the ‘because it’s Monday’ lolz. We thought this was too cute to keep to ourselves and the yogitwit handful.
On a side note, has anyone ever witnessed Yoga on Sesame Street? Check out this super retro video, “Sesame Street Season: 9 Episode: 52 Gordon and kids do some yoga stretches.” (Season 9: 1977-1979)
ps. Happy November!
UPDATE Nov 10, 2009: So it happens to be Sesame Street‘s 40th Birthday! And the new fit-conscious Sesame Street of today features kids yoga! From The New York Times:
This season has an Om sensibility. “My mom takes me to yoga class. I love doing yoga,” a little girl in pigtails says in an October episode. She is narrating a short film that shows a pixieish teacher and her pupils folding into the downward dog position. After class her mother arrives with a plastic water bottle. “She says it’s important to drink water when you exercise,” the girl explains. “When I grow up I want to be a yoga teacher.”
We MUST find a video of this episode.

Love it! I’m a huge Muppets fan, so a Kermie doing yoga is awesome! 🙂
Ok, of course Kermit is delightful. But where’s the medating, the breathing, the spirituality, the ancient texts? It’s clear that Kermit is nothing but a highly accomplished Yobo.
Luckily we have Babar, who talks about all those deeper things. He also discovers ancient elephant cave drawings that prove that elephants invented Yoga in prehistoric times.
Humans only adopted Yoga many years later and wrongly claimed it as their own. This is probably the secret reason why one of the primary Hindu Gods is an elephant–Ganesh.
So my vote for best celebrity animal #Yogadork goes to Babar, no contest. See:

Kermit the frog is a great yogi! I wrote about it here:
Froggie Inspirations
Yes, Brooks gave me quite an education on Kermit’s virtues as a Yogi. I had to apologize to Kermit. Be sure to see her link above to get the full story.

Yes, I read the NYT article and thought the exact same thing! I find it so fascinating that Sesame Street’s interest in yoga is a sign of the current times, as well as a general cultural gentrification.
