Indeed, as we were told (scolded?) today by the casting company, shooting of the new film version of Eat, Pray, Love has begun in NYC and the yogi part has already been shot!
To prove it further New York Mag’s Vulture blog has done the arduous job of trailing one Ms. Julia Roberts around the East Village and snapping the first photos of the actress on set. Sounds like a good time. They have a slideshow up, which is somewhat uneventful, except for the nice shots of James Franco and Julia side by side (Franco is playing David, the young lover. oh la la). No signs of actual yogis yet from what we could tell.
Also, for you New Yorkers they filmed in and around the village vegan staple Caravan of Dreams, and then over to Tompkins Square Park. We look forward to hearing more buzz from the filming, and will be sure to keep all those who care informed! Especially when Felipe (Javier Bardem) joins the scene, ahem.
Casting update: We hear now that Billy Crudup has signed on to play Steven, the Mr./Ex-husband.

hi. im a big fan of bali. have visited there numerous times, but cannot recognise the beautiful places that were in the movie. where did they film it? and which beach was that? do you know where the house that she rented was as well? im travelling to bali over january and would love to visit these places. thanks for the help .rose
