Last week we mentioned the memorial being held in Guruji’s name, Sun June 14, hosted at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen foundation. If you were washing your yoga mat that day, or perhaps seeing the final performance of Guys and Dolls on Broadway (narf) and couldn’t attend, head over to YD pal Yoga Nation for some inspiring images and a detailed recap of the event.
Of the near 400 in attendance, Notable Big Wig Yogis included: “Alison West (Yoga Union), Leslie Kaminoff (Breathing Project), Michelle Demus (Pure Yoga), Hari Kaur (Golden Bridge), Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman (Urban Zen), James Murphy (Iyengar Yoga NY), Carlos Menjiva (Jivamukti), and someone from Bikram yoga.”
(heh, that last part made us chuckle. nice having a Bikramite represent though.)
” ‘Yes you can’ was his message—it’s what so many of us took from him,” said Ruth Lauer-Manenti whose practice helped her to heal from a near-fatal car accident.

Yeah, the Bikram thing was funny, but honestly, whoever they sent had not shown up by 7pm when the ceremony finally started (1 hr late BTW so I guess the Choudry rep never showed??!??!?)
