Behold Bette Bakasana! Holy mother of all that is good. We are so humbled by this 83-year-old yogini we can’t even handle it. Our little hearts are no match for the admiration and reverence we hold for this dear octo-yogi.
Australian native, Bette Calman is 83 years old and has a resume boasting over 40 years of yoga practice, 3 yoga books and playing starring roles in TV shows promoting the yog. She’s still practicing and now teaches up to 11 (eleven!) classes a week.
Says Bette, “The body is a remarkable instrument. It can stretch and get better all the time. Forget age. Yoga keeps you young.”
“I’m proof that if you keep at it, you’ll get there,” Calman told the Herald Sun. “I can do more now than I could 50 years ago.”
Can’t.. even…

Oh were you looking for MORE inspiration? Well guess what? We’ve got it! In your face!
Toms River, NJ (woot): Antoinette Frank just celebrated her 90th birthday, and has been teaching yoga for the past 20 years! She learned her first yoga moves by watching TV programs 50 years ago (Bette??). She’s been leading 2 classes a week at the Toms River Senior Center for the past 2 decades, and with no health problems, sees no reason to retire from giving back. “I’m a giver. I don’t care if anyone does anything for me. I wouldn’t think less of them if nothing was done for my birthday,” she said.
Are you smiling yet or what?
Another website to show to my 82 yr. old mom who complains about how stiff she is but says she hates yoga (based, I think, on one class she went to a long time ago)…thanks….
Apparently she lives in my hometown. Its now a mission to find where she teaches and do one of her classes! Awesome!!
Oh, and here’s another article on her, with a little video footage 🙂

I can only hope that I will be rockin’ out my fabulous yoga poses when I am 90 years old.
I want to be like them!
